![]() ![]() I found starlight to be a bit namby pamby (still do, but it's not a bad song). I thought Supermassive was OK, and an interesting direction sonically. Personally, i was blown away by BH&R, but not for songs like Supermassive or Starlight. I wish I could tell her how much she inadvertently changed my life. ![]() That the same look she had in her eyes and voice when she talked about Muse is something that wholeheartedly resonates in my soul now. If I had any regret about that time was that I never took the chance to tell my teacher that I loved Muse and it was all because of her. I've heard this band before and it finally dawned on me that I really liked this band.Īfter that, I had B&H, Starlight, Sunburn and Uno on repeat as much as I could before I got their then current discography on my IPod. Because she never brought them up for the rest of the year.īut for me, something finally clicked in my soul. Unfortunately the whole class didn't receive it that well and I could tell she was silently devastated by this. She would talk about them and finally one day played Supermassive Black Hole. It wasn't until I was in 7th grade, we had an exchange teacher from England that was really into Muse. It didn't quite snap into my brain that I was watching Muse. I love Exo-Politics' "substance".Įven though I grew up watching MTV as a kid. ![]() okay? They mostly just seem like random wizard-esque phrases 'n' shit combined to make legible sentences. Maybe Timescale Keeper/Burning Bandits could've been great too had it been fleshed out more in a different direction than Exo, but with the mediocre quality recordings we have of it now inherently makes it inferior to me. Great production, I love the instrumentals on the final version, and it all just comes together to create one of my favourite songs of all time. Very intellectual writing, lyrics-wise, even if presented in a somewhat goofy manner. It's the quintessential "Muse" song to me. I think the lyrics flow fucking perfectly in Exo-Politics, tell a great story with a sci-fi oriented message I personally love. "Will you slam shut, or free your mind? Or stay hypnotized?" is perhaps my favourite lyric of any song EVER. I could also make the argument, however, that the instrumentation was better in some regards, to play live? But in terms of lyrics at least, yeah I wholeheartedly prefer the "aliens invading earth and some people still denying it, our leaders still lying about such an obviously real, happening albeit hard to accept scenario unfolding right in front of our eyes" shtick. Very possibly even my #1, out of their like 120+ songs. Improved in almost every way imaginable for my personal interests and taste, so much so that it's in my top 3 Muse songs of all time because of those changes. Imo, Exo-Politics is a massive improvement over Burning Bandits. ![]()
